About Astrobpanda

Why We Write About Rooms, Not Just Rooms

Astrobpanda was built to answer the question most home blogs ignore: what do you do after the inspiration?

A Blog Built Around Honest Home Advice

Astrobpanda launched in Toronto in 2021 with a simple conviction: home styling advice is most useful when it's specific. Not “add warm lighting” but “replace your overhead pot light with a 2700K bulb and add a floor lamp in the north-east corner of the room.” Not “declutter” but “remove everything from the top of your dresser for 30 days and notice which items you actually missed.” We cover the full interior of a home room by room — living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, entryways, and the hybrid spaces that don't fit neat categories. Since 2021 we've published more than 80 room-specific guides, tested more than 40 organization systems in real Canadian homes, and received reader submissions from readers in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Halifax. The blog is written and edited by a small team of two, which means every article reflects a consistent editorial voice and a consistent standard of specificity.

Who We Write For, and What We Don't Cover

Astrobpanda writes for renters and homeowners across Canada who want their homes to feel genuinely liveable — not magazine-ready. Our readers are typically working with real constraints: rented walls they can't paint, furniture they've accumulated rather than curated, rooms that face north and never get enough light. The rose-warm palette and room-by-room structure of the blog reflect those constraints directly. We are not an interior design firm and we don't offer paid consultations or project management services. We also don't review products we haven't actually used, which means our recommendation list is smaller than most home blogs — and more reliable. Results always depend on the specific room: its dimensions, its light sources, its existing finishes. We describe what worked in specific contexts so you can judge whether the same logic applies to yours. If a guide references a product, expect a Canadian dollar price and a Canadian retailer, not a US affiliate link that won't ship to your postal code.

What Makes Astrobpanda Different

Three editorial commitments we hold to in every article we publish.

Measurements, Not Mood

Every layout recommendation includes actual dimensions. “Pull the sofa 20 inches from the wall” is more useful than “create breathing room” — so that's the language we use, consistently, across every room-by-room guide we write.

CAD Prices, Canadian Retailers

Product links go to shops that ship within Canada. Prices are listed in Canadian dollars at the time of publication and updated when we revisit an article. No US-only affiliate programmes that waste your time.

Tested, Not Just Curated

Organization systems, storage products, and décor techniques are trialled in real homes before we write about them. If something looked promising but failed in practice, we say so — and we explain what went wrong.

“I've followed a lot of home blogs and Astrobpanda is the only one that gives me numbers. Last spring I used the bedroom lighting guide — specific bulb temperatures, specific lamp heights — and the difference was immediate. My partner noticed without me saying anything. That's the test.”
